Tracey Monk

Tracey has been teaching yoga in the community since 1999.

Tracey trained in Zen Shiatsu Massage and Ki Yoga under Jack Marshall, later becoming certified in Ryoho Yoga under Andrzej Gospodarczky. She is a senior yoga teacher with Yoga Australia Association. The philosophies of Oriental medicine, meridian therapies, and the practice of seasonal synergy have been major influences in the lineage of the yoga she has chosen to follow and make her own.

Continuing her studies and personal development under the guidance of Alison Carrol of Temenos Wisdom School, Tracey has participated in Women’s work, somatic psychology, and intuitive bodywork practice.

Tracey combines her knowledge of both Eastern and Western approaches to healthcare. She holds a Certificate IV in remedial massage, and has attained Barre Certification (a fusion of ballet, Pilates and functional training). Tracey’s love of movement, connection and breath then led her to Mette Institute, where she has been studying and practicing Kahuna Massage since 2020.

Self-awareness

Tracey is a warm and professional teacher who believes that through self-awareness we can attain a more genuine relationship with ourselves, others and the environment we live in.

She endeavours to create a space in her classes and massage sessions where people can explore their own inner world through their physicality and body posture, in order to bring understanding to their behaviours and conditioned patterns.

Tracey believes that it is through self-exploration that we have the tools to ultimately resolve pain, overcome limitation, and live to our fullest potential.

Testimonials

  • Yoga with Tracey nourishes both my body and spirit.

The yoga is strongly physical but accessible, and offered in a warm and loving space.

    – Natalie Conyer, Mosman

  • I’ve been lucky enough to be doing yoga with Tracey for around 10 years.

She is a fabulous instructor who resonates with beginners and experienced class members alike.

Tracey brings a great variety to her classes, and has the ability to target different areas of the body like no other instructor I have found.

On top of all this she brings a beautiful calming energy to the room which never fails to leave me considerably more relaxed than when I started.

I cannot recommend her highly enough!

  • I started studio classes with Tracey in Feb 2020 – just before Covid.

I was really enjoying the class and probably like you, thought Tracey was the best yoga teacher ever!!

I was disappointed that the studio classes had to stop but relieved when Tracey started conducting the class via Zoom. With the return to work I wasn’t able to make the Zoom class and started the pre-recorded class. It’s great – really fantastic. It allows such great flexibility and the instruction doesn’t miss a beat.

If you’re thinking about it but not quite sure, I recommend you give it a go. You won’t be disappointed – you may actually find you like it just as much 😊

  • Over the 30 years I have been practising yoga, I have had many teachers, and I can honestly say, Tracey Monk is the best.

Tracey has an amazing ability to transport you into a different dimension. It does not happen to you in every class, but it does in many of them. I guess one of the reasons is that Tracey can read the mood and ability of the class and in some subtle way her teaching is optimised for those present. You work hard, but the pace is always right, and you go away invigorated and uplifted.

I had the special privilege to take part in Tracey's unique yoga trip to Nepal in October 2013 and it changed my life. From my corporate self I could evolve into someone more real, more authentic, more happy and more healthy. Also more useful to others, and I shall always feel grateful to Tracey for that.

  • YOGA! It's one of the most valuable activities I have experienced in my fight against dementia.

An hour of yoga at any level can improve your spirit, your inner feeling of peace, your flexibility and fitness. Yoga brings out the best in you and introduces you to friendly compassionate instructors who focus on your wellbeing.

My yoga classmates provide subtle and sincere support. I love my yoga , thanks to Tracey and all those wonderful teachers at Mosman Yoga Village.
